"People, Places and Things" by Duncan Macmillan

A 10 week course to develop your scene study and character development skills based around the award winning play People, Places and Things. Delve into the causes of addiction and challenge yourself to play a range of states in a small class with only 10 places available. This course will offer valuable experience of researching and playing an addict, whether as Emma or Mark, or as a medical professional should you so choose. As well as generating useful audition material, the course will result in run-throughs of the ‘potted’ play, to give each actor the opportunity of sustaining a significant role.

'Company at Christmas' and December news

So excited to have set up our website and all our social media.

BUT the most exciting thing has been getting our first Rep company piece ready to go for Christmas. Of course, because of the virus everything is virtual at the moment - but instead of fighting it we decided to go with it and use the medium of 'radio' - so we didn't have to compromise. So many creatives have done such wonderful things online this year, and I applaud them all !

I heard Judi Dench being interviewed by Andrew Marr on the very day we decided to produce our audio piece on behalf of Acting for Others - she talked so passionately about the subject that is so close to our hearts at the moment: the potential loss of not only theatre companies but of the talented actors and performers who have had no opportunity to work since everything closed down in March. So I decided on the spur of the moment to write to Dame Judi and ask if she would support us as a company. Within 24 hours of her receiving my old-fashioned snail-mail letter, I had a response which included the beautiful little memory for us to include in our programme. I was sooo overly excited - Judi Dench has been my idol ever since I came out of the womb wanting to act !

Emboldened by this, I contacted Sir David Jason and he very generously recorded a section of his new book which related specifically to our subject – memories of Christmas.

At this point we’ve had some wonderful linking music beautifully recorded by Ron Crocker (MD of Book of Mormon!) and all the recordings and images are in, and sent off to the editor for the ‘final construction’

I’m now nervously waiting  to hear the final version and to be able to post it on our site for our ‘opening’ on 22nd December.

It’s been a tiring but exciting November and early December – and I’m looking forward to a day or two off over the Festive season, in order to hit the New Year in an energised state to start the marketing and final creation of the Actor-training course !

Happy Christmas to all and to all a safe and busy New Year !
