Lorna Pearson-Hall MA, BA, PGCTLHE, FHEA, AISTD, LGSM
Lorna made her professional stage debut at the age of fourteen and went on to train at Laine Theatre Arts in Musical Theatre and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the Teaching of Speech and Drama. As a performer, she has enjoyed a range of roles spanning Shakespeare to Sondheim. Her work as a director and choreographer encompasses a variety of genre but she has a special interest in Musical Theatre and New Writing. Lorna was a Reader and Director for The Kenneth Branagh New Writing Competition as well as being a Senior UK and International Drama Examiner for a number of years.
Lorna is an experienced Actor Trainer with an MA in Theatre Directing from Royal Holloway University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She taught Acting and Academic Studies, at Arts Ed where she was the Head of The Post Diploma BA (Hons) in Performance Studies as well as teaching Acting and Contextual Studies. At Italia Conti she was Head of Acting and Head of Studies and was central to the implementation of the new BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre. Previous research focuses on somatic and psycho-physical practices in Actor Training and Pedagogical approaches to vocational learning.
Lorna is experienced in teaching a broad range of acting approaches, drama school and professional audition technique and acting through song. Academic teaching encompasses Theatre Studies, the History of Musical Theatre and the various relationships between the Performer and the Audience. Her work also includes directing professional showcases, contemporary plays and musicals where she has supported 3rd year students in achieving agent representation. In addition, Lorna enjoys training professionals and graduates to successfully communicate and pass on their industry experience via effective teacher training.
